What do I love about summer? Everything.
I love summer fashion, summer weather, and I especially live for summer day trips to different California cities! I spent the first weekend of summer hanging out in Santa Monica. We did a little eating, walking, and spent the afternoon nursery furniture shopping. Yes, I said nursery shopping! So excited to say we signed, sealed, and are waiting for delivery on our nursery furniture… proud moment! Thank God for Baby & Kids Restoration Hardware, they made all of my indecisive mommy dreams come true! (can’t wait to share the nursery journey along on my blog)
While visiting Santa Monica, and making very important life-changing decisions, I wore one of my new favorite summer dresses I purchased from the Nordstrom half-yearly sale last month. It was one of the items I listed as a “fav” on my previous blog post, and I have to say that I was so happy I decided to order it. I was a little nervous because showing off my bump is all still so new for me, and I knew that wearing a fitted dress would take a little guts. I have to admit, it actually made me feel really confident and sexy to show off my bump in such a flattering dress! The stripes added enough visual texture that I felt like all of my figure flaws were disguised just right, and with the recent “pop” of my bump, it felt good to show my little guy off! It was a big moment for this first-timer.
I paired this perfect summer dress with the ultimate shoes of the summer (as well as last summer’s favs)… my go-to Chanel espadrilles! I LOVE these shoes, and I could ever say enough positive things about them. I love espadrilles in general, and recently purchased some stellar ones at J-Crew as well (will share later), but there is just something incredibly easy, casual, and yet so incredibly chic about the Chanel espadrilles (couldn’t have anything to do with the fact they they are Chanel, right?). The tan and black combo has made these shoes so universal that I really have found myself wearing them with so many color combinations. I am also not afraid to admit that as much as I love a good heel, I am just more myself in a flat. I love feeling comfortable and confident, and especially in a place like 3rd street promenade, I knew I wanted a shoe that I could last in for the entire day.
Accessories were key for this look, and in my opinion, you can never lose with a great bag and pair of sunnies.
Summer sunglass essential: Tortoise! I was so happy to snatch up these amazing Prada sunglasses recently, and have not taken them off since I left the store in them. Tortoise frames are the color of the season, and these cat-eye, studded beauties do not disappoint, be prepared to see a ton of them on my site this season!
The burberry watch I wore with this ensemble actually belongs to my husband. It is a watch I gifted him a few years ago, and over the years he has sadly developed a very frustrating (to say the least) allergy to metal. Who am I to let a beautiful watch go to waste?! Better to be used by at least one of us! Don’t mind if I do…
The “bracelet” I am wearing is a Hindu blessing for Baby Raj. You will probably be seeing a few different ones over the next few months as I will be receiving many blessings from my “U” Family. I love the Indian culture and I have such a high respect for Hinduism (and mostly my husband’s family) so I am always happy to accept and incorporate different religious practices. I love that they also make me feel more at peace with such major life events.
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far! It has already been a busy one for me, but I am hoping to get to enjoy this last summer as a “Party of 2” before we become 3! I am thankful to share this amazing journey with everyone, and I hope you all have enjoyed seeing the bump grow from my first couple of posts! It has been fun, and challenging (to say the least) learning how to adjust to this growing babe and still keep my style, but I am enjoying sharing my tips with all of you!
Cheers to a great summer, and tons of sunshine ahead!
