We had a very busy weekend here in the “U” household over the 4th of July weekend. We had tons of family staying at our place, 3 wedding events, and we even hosted our 3rd annual 4th of July BBQ. 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays to celebrate because it incorporates some of my favorite leisure pastimes: pool time, family time, sunshine, and BBQ! I decided to share just a few snipets of our fun weekend. I have received a ton of questions recently about some of the maternity (and even none-maternity) dresses I wore over the weekend, and I am happy to share my good finds with everyone.
Also, I will be the first to admit that I am a bit of a wedding-aholic. I love anything and everything pertaining to wedding celebrations, and this last weekend we were so fortunate to celebrate the engagements, past nuptials, and future nuptials of family and some great friends.
We attended the engagement party for our good friends Jessica and Mike. For the event I wore a maternity dress from an online store that I have always loved called Asos. I have been a regular Asos shopper, and I was over-the-moon excited when I found out that they have a maternity line that is identical in style to their regular line. I have been so lucky with finding and loving great pieces from their site (both before and during pregnancy) and I was even more happy to have found this perfect floral maternity dress. It was so flattering, and the floral print was the perfect summer evening print and color.
I have a good friend who is professional makeup artist, and she was gracious enough to do my makeup for the event. I wanted a smoky eye look to enhance the grey flowers in my dress, and I went with a matte lip color – which I was in love with! Cassie is my go-to girl, and I always love the way my makeup turns out with her (if you’re in the South OC area and are looking for a great makeup artist for any event, message me for inquiries)! I completed my glam look with some soft beach waves that my hairstylist did in under 20 minutes! She actually used a flat iron for these perfect waves, she was able to match the exact look I was going for!
Congrats to the beautiful couple!

On Saturday, I celebrated a belated wedding reception with one of my best friends Charity and her husband Raul. They had a beautiful private wedding ceremony back in February, and had a small family gathering at their beautiful home in San Clemente to celebrate their wedding!
We ended our busy weekend with a traditional Hindu engagement blessing ceremony (called a Puja) for our cousin and his soon-to-be wife Neena. I love traditions, and attending their Engagement Puja brought back wonderful memories of the amazing experience I had when planning and preparing for our Indian Wedding. It was such new territory for me, and every event that was had for our wedding was a first time experience for me. I would always be a little bit nervous before each event not knowing what to expect, but I can now say with confidence that over 3 years later, I have become very accustom to Indian/Hindu events, and I love attending and participating in them. Celebrating our cousin (whom is more like our brother) and his new finances blessing was very special to us; the four of us have been through so many journeys together over the past 6 years and it’s so comforting to know that at the end of the day, we all still have one another. Our families mean the world to us, and anytime we can celebrate any occasion with them is so special to us, and even more so now that we are bringing our son into the world.
I hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend! This weekend is a little less hectic, but I am looking forward to taking some time to catch up on a little R&R from last weekend’s eventful weekend.
